All About Social Media Marketing!

Social Media is all about nurturing relationship between your prospects/clients and convert that relationship into business. While drawing a Social Media Marketing Strategy it is important to keep in mind that one should not attempt direct marketing, instead by giving content pertaining to the interests of the prospects gradually nurture a relationship between your business and the prospects. You may give away valuable content which may encourage readers to share it across their social networks. By doing so your message will spread viral across the networks freely. The content format may be e-book, video, reports, research papers, etc. This kind of approach will last long since people know to each other spreading the message on behalf of you not you bombarding them with advertisements. This form of marketing results in earned media rather than paid media.

When businesses join the social marketing channels, prospects and marketers can interact and communicate directly. That interaction feels more personal to users than traditional methods of marketing & advertising. Social networking sites act as ‘e-word of mouth’ publicity. Two way communication is easier here. By using analytics, marketers can detect buying signals, such as content shared by people, their comments posted, suggestions and wishes. Understanding of buying signals can help sales people target relevant prospects and marketers run micro-targeted campaigns.

Unlike traditional media that are often cost-prohibitive to many companies, a social media strategy does not require astronomical budgeting. The major social media platforms for businesses are Linkedin, Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Instagram, YouTube, Foursquare, Tumblr, Delicious, Digg and Reddit.

I will be writing on these Social Media platforms and analyse how these will be beneficial for us business people. So watch for my next blog…
